Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax Commissionarate, Noida came into existence w.e.f.. August 1997 on bifurcation of erstwhile Commissionerate of Customs and Central Excise, Meerut. Earlier it was located at Meerut itself and designated as Meerut –II Commissionerate. However, being not administratively suitable for the Commissionerate to function from Meerut, it was decided to shift the Hqrs. of Meerut –II Commissionerate to Noida. The process of shifting was completed in the month of November 2000. Meerut –II Commissionerate was officially named as Noida Commissionerate of Central Excise and Customs on 26.06.2001. In the meantime the CBEC further reorganized the Commissionerate on 01.11.2002, when Noida Commissionerate was further reorganized encompassing the geographical areas of Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh.
